Village meetings to be held for housing projects for displaced

Eluru: District in-charge Collector P Koteswara Rao said that village meetings will be conducted with the evacuees of Polavaram project from April 10 to take up the housing programme in the district.

Presiding over the review meeting of irrigation, national highway projects and land acquisition programmes held atthe Collectorate here on Saturday, Koteswara Rao said respective construction companies engineers would attend the village meetings in the respective villages in a phased manner and four housing designs would be showed to displaced people for their approval besides explaining the cost of construction of house.

The officials would take the written approval from displaced people for the housing colonies, he added.  The meetings would be held in Kothuru, Vadapalli in Polavaram mandalon April 10 at 10.00 am, at YarravaramSarugudi villages on April 11 and at Sivagiri village on April 11 at 2.00 pm.

He said the displaced people would be accommodated in 31 colonies and already 25 colonies works were at various stages of construction, he added. He directed the housing officials to speed up the housing works in the summer season and directed the officials to complete the National Highways 107,216, 165 and 16 construction works in the district as early as possible.

Reviewing the Chintalapudi Lift Irrigation Scheme, he said the officials had submitted 164 designs to the government out of 217 designs. Out of the submitted designs, 137 has received nod from the government. He directed the officials to submit the remaining 107 designs to the government for final approval. Joint collector-2 MH Sheriff, Narsapursub-collector Sumit Kumar Gandhi, ITDA Project Officer Harindra Prasad, RDOs Satyanarayana Rao, K Mohan Kumar, Housing Project Director K Srinivasa Rao, Irrigation SE Raghunath and others attended the meeting.
