Amaravati gets Platinum in IGBC green cities rating
Andhra Pradesh's upcoming capital Amaravati has been rated as 'Platinum' city by Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) green cities rating.
The IGBC has given the rating on the basis of the parameters including; city planning, heat mitigation, green building, public space and regions under green cover, environmental monitoring and others.

In fact, this is the first time in the country that an entire city has been given a Platinum rating. Earlier, Platinum award was given to 'GIFT(Gujarat International Finance Tec) City' a smaller city in Gujarat. The 'platinum' is the highest rating a city can obtain as per a new category.
According to a press note, CRDA commissioner Cherukuri Sreedhar will receive the award from the national chairman of IGBC, Prem C Jain, during the three-day Happy Cities Summit, which is to be held at CK Convention center near Mangalgiri on April 10.
A city is given a platinum rating if its score is between 76 and above, on whole Amaravati scored 78 out of 100 points, the officials said.
Amaravati IGBC chapter chairman M Vijaya Sai congratulated CRDA commissioner Cherukuri Sreedhar for this prestigious award.
