Sidimanotsavam of Perala Poleramma held grandly in Chirala

Chirala: The devotees and committee members of the Poleramma temple in 29th ward of Hariprasad Nagar had performed the Sidimanotsavam on Tuesday in a grand manner.

The Poleramma temple, which was started a small make shift temple 43 years ago was now developed into a large complex temple by the devotees and temple trust committee members. The devotees perform special pujas on every Tuesday and Sunday to seek the blessings of the goddess. They believe that the Poleramma will clear all their problems and bestows peace and wealth.

As part of the Sidimanotsavam in annual celebrations, the devotees capsized a goat in a box, which is called Sidi, tied to a long trunk of a tree and circumambulated the temple for three times with it. In this process the devotees threw cashew fruits onto the goat and tried to pull the chariot for blessings of the goddess.

In the night at Tirunalla, the local fair, the Prabha’s decorated with colorful paper and electric bulbs attracted the devotees in the locality. The cultural programs including dramas, dances attracted the thousands of devotees from the villages surrounding Chirala and nearby villages.
