YSRCP blocked National Highway in Eluru
Eluru: The workers and leaders of YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) have blocked the national highway in various places in West Godavari district on Tuesday, in support of the indefinite fast taken up by YSRCP MPs at New Delhi and demanding the Centre to accord the special category status to Andhra Pradesh.
In Eluru, the workers led by YSRCP district President and MLC Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas (Nani), Eluru Constituency committee Convener Madhhyahnapu Eswari Balaram reached fire station centre in the afternoon. They started the road blockade of the Grand National Trunk Road (GNT Road) at fire station centre. Addressing the gathering, YSRCP MLC Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas has said that the TDP and BJP combine betrayed the Andhra Pradesh people over the last four years in the name of special packages. Nothing was given to Andhra Pradesh as per the AP Reorganisation Act; he pointed out. He said that the YSRCP led by party supremo Jaganmohan Reddy had started the agitation over the last three years to pressurise the Centre to accord SCS to the State.
He reiterated that the SCS only solution for the development of Andhra Pradesh. He questioned the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu who dragged on four years time in the name of Special Package, and why he changed his voice towards SCS?. “over the last four years, all parties are demanding the SCS in the State, whereas the Chief Minister Chandrababu surrendered to the Centre all these days. As all parties and people came on roads, the TDP with a fear of the effect of their vote bank raised the voice on SCS”, he lamented. The workers and leaders raised slogans against the Centre and State for their failure in getting the SCS. The City Congress President Rajanala Rama Mohan Rao, AITUC (CPI) leader K Krishnamacharyulu and other leaders extended solidarity to the agitation.
Meanwhile, on National Highway at Appanaveedu village in Pedapadu mandal the YSRCP workers and leaders in a significant number resorted to Rasta Roko. Due to the rasta roko traffic halted over two hours on the National highway. The YSRCP Eluru parliamentary constituency Committee Convener Kotagiri Sridhar and others led the agitation.
