YSRCP highway blockade: Activists arrested in Kurnool
YSR Congress Party leaders and activists on Tuesday were arrested in Kurnool district when they were protesting on the Kurnool-Nandyal Highway demanding Special Category Status (SCS) and expressing solidarity with the party MPs staging fast in Delhi.
The party activists criticised TDP for not pressing for SCS even after four years.
YSRCP party’s Kurnool Parliamentary constituency convenor BY Ramaiah, Kurnool Assembly constituency convenor MA Hafeez Khan and Pathikonda constituency convenor Kangati Sreedevi along with other activists were taken into police custody.
YSRCP leader Silpa Ravichandra Kishore Reddy and activists staged a blockade of the Kurnool-Tirupati national highway at Noonepalle and were taken to Nandyal III Town police station.
The highway blockade at Madhavanagar Circle in Kurnool was led by Panyam MLA Gauru Charitha Reddy and YSRCP State secretary Gauru Venkata Reddy while the highway blockade in Adoni town of Kurnool district was led by party’s State secretary Gopal Reddy, Adoni town coordinator and leaders Srilakshmi, Jaipal, Deva and Venkateswar Reddy.
