Change in address of migrated ration card holders mooted
Visakhapatnam: District In-Charge Collector G Srujana said that the government is seriously examining to change the address of the ration cards once the cardholder transferred and migrated to other places. She further stated that the government would soon find out a solution to the issue.
However, she said the administration would ensure medical assistance to the cardholder and their family members without any hassle. The district- level vigilance and food assurance committee meeting chaired by Srujana was held on Wednesday.
During the meeting, members of the committee raised several issues, including the problems of deleted names in the ration cards and transfer of the ration cards. One of the members K Venkata Ramana informed the committee that after marriage, the son and daughter would separate from the family and live independently.
However, the officials are removing the names in the ration cards and not issuing new cards to the new families. With this, the separated family members are not getting NTR Vaidya Seva and other medical services as the hospital are asking to produce ration cards, he explained.
Responding on the issue, the Collector assured that the separated beneficiaries, who need medical assistance under NTR Vaidya Seva and other schemes, would be provided. However, she advised the beneficiaries to inform the authorities to get the Arogya Sri card. She also assured to deploy one responsible officer to register the complaints that come under the Food Assurance Act implementation.
