Grama Swaraj Abhiyan programme from April 14
Eluru: The Government has decided to extend the banking system in rural areas. The district officials and Bankers will take up Grama Swaraj Abhiyan programme in 32 villages in the district from April 14 to May 5, according to Joint Collector-2 MH Sheriff.
The Joint Collector-2 Sheriff presided over the district level organizing committee meeting of GRama Swaraj ABhiyan (GSA) held at Collectorate here on Friday evening.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that the Government has appointed Senior IAS officials to monitor the GSA programme in the district. It has appointed J Hari Prasad (Chemical and Fertilisers Ministry), Geeta Nayar (Commerce Ministry) to the district. He stated that the Andhra Bank, Bank of Baroda, Chaitanya Godavari Grameena Bank, Indian Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Kotak Mahendra Bank, State Bank of India, Syndicate Bank, Vijayabank would participate in the GSA programme.
Under the GSA programme, all the people who attain the age of 18 and above would open Jan Dhan Accounts and get the RUPE cards. The officials will create awareness on the usage of RUPE cards, he added. Likewise, the customers who opened the Jandhan Yojana accounts will have Pradhana Mantri Suraksha Bhima Yojana with a annual premium of Rs.12 to get Rs.2 lakhs insurance claim.
The Joint Collector said that the Pradhana Mantri Jeevana Jyothi Bhima Yojana also provided with an annual premium of Rs.330.
The employment guarantee scheme workers, DWCRA Velugu members, beneficiaries under other welfare departments, Corporations would opened the Jandhan Yojana in these selected 32 villages. He directed bankers to take steps to open Jandhan Yojana accounts to all the youngsters who attained the age of 18 years in the villages.
He said that the bankers and officials should register the eligible persons names under Pradhana Mantri Jivana Jyothi Bhima yojana, Pradhanamantri Suraksha Bhima Yojana schemes. Andhra Bank Assitant General Manager A Srinivasan, Nabard District Manager Rama Prabhu, ZP CEO D Satyanarayana, LDM P Surya Rao addressed the meeting. DRDA Project Director K Srinivsulu, Agriculture Joint Director Gousia Begum, DWAMA PD Ganesh Kumar participated in the meeting.
