March for Science tomorrow
Guntur: A ‘March for Science’ will be organised in Bapatla on April 14, according to Forum for Better Bapatla secretary PC Sai Babu.
He said that a human chain would be formed to defend and celebrate science. The march would be part of global movement which calls for espousing science in public life and in policy formulation.
He opined that the march would be significant as people in powerful positions and some interest groups had been propagating unscientific ideas. Ridiculous and unsubstantiated claims were being made about India’s past, forgetting its real contribution that to the growth of science.
He expressed concern that they had been watching a steady stream of anti-science policies passed in India and added that at the same time, individuals with little or no science background were being nominated for science leadership and advisory roles.
He felt that there was an urgent need to safeguard science and build scientific temper among the masses.
