Govt interference in housing society activity draws flak

Srikakulam: The High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad for the State of Telangana and the State of Andhra Pradesh found fault with the government for its intervention against no-confidence motion moved against the president of Narasannapeta Cooperative House Building Society Limited (NCHBSL). 

According to details, president of NCHBSL T Arjun executed three registered sale deeds to three persons by violating the society rules. After knowing about it, the vice-president and seven directors moved no confidence motion against the president by lodging a complaint with the cooperative deputy registrar on March 16 this year. The cooperative officials delayed process for 15 days and finally decided to conduct meeting on no confidence motion on April 2 and later it was adjourned till April 3.

Before conducting a discussion on no confidence motion, stay orders were issued in the name of Commissioner for Cooperation and Registrar of Cooperative Societies for AP government on April 3. Immediately, after receiving the orders, the cooperative officials stopped the no confidence motion  move. Aggrieved by the stay orders issued by the government, the directors approached the High court. 

In turn, the High Court initiated probe into it with writ petition (WP) No. 11997/2018 and issued orders to cooperative officials to proceed further on no confidence motion. The High Court also termed that the stay orders issued by the government on no confidence motion are without jurisdiction and termed it as an unnecessary intervention.

“We need justice and discussion on no confidence motion,” NCHBSL vice-president Ch Rama Rao, directors S Krishna, P Neelam, MV Kumar,  BS Sharma, P Krisna Rao, PL Kantha Rao, P Venkata Rao told The Hans India. “We received orders from the High Court. Hence, we decided the date for discussion on no confidence motion,” said district cooperative officer B Srihari and deputy registrar AV Ramana Murthy.
