TDP leaders take out rally for Spl status

Eluru: The ruling Telugu Desam Party MP, MLAs and other leaders took out Padayatra in Eluru city, demanding the Centre to accord Special Category status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh.

The TDP workers, leaders, led by Eluru MP Maganti Venkateswara Rao (Babu), MLAs Chintamaneni Prabhakar (Denduluru), Badeti Kota Rama Rao (Bujji) of Eluru reached Old Bus Stand centre on Saturday morning and garlanded the statue of Dr BR Ambedkar on his birth anniversary and paid rich tributes to the leader. Later the TDP leaders organised a public meeting at the Old Bus Stand centre. 

The leaders, at the public meeting, alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had insulted the Indian Parliament and soon his downfall would begin. The ending of BJP would start from Andhra Pradesh itself and by next election, the BJP will lose its popularity, they reiterated.  The leaders pledged that the agitation would continue until the special category status is accorded to the state.

Eluru MP Maganti Venkateswara Rao (Babu) has said that the people should come forward to join hands in the fight against the Centre. He said the people should fight for the Railway Zone and Amaravati Capital construction. He criticised that the opposition did not join hands with all parties and there is no support to the opposition among the people.

Eluru MLA Badeti Kota Ramarao, Denduluru MLA ChintamaneniPrabhakar,  ZP Chairman MullapudiBapiraju, MLC Ramu Surya Rao, City Mayor Sheikh Noorjahan and AP Film Development Corporation Chairman Ambica Krishna addressed the gathering. Later the leaders started the Padayatra under the scorching sun from Old Bus Stand to Fire Station covering a distance of about5 km.
