Governor visits GVMC nerve centre

Visakhapatnam: Governor ESL Narasimhan, along with his spouse, visited the GVMC’s Smart City Operation Centre (Command Control) on Saturday. The Governor made a surprise visit to the GMVC’s office and enquired about the Command Control Centre operations and other development works under the Smart City project. The Governor went around the photo exhibition on the occasion.

Commissioner of GVMC M Hari Narayanan explained the operations of the Command Control Centre and its services to the people. The Commissioner also explained about the linkage of the Command Control Centre with the various parts of the city and also with the state-level administration. The Command Control Centre linked up with police and APSRTC services.

The centre will review the air pollution, disaster, emergency, public safety and security in the city. A total of 2,500 CCTV cameras were installed covering the entire city, 50 public addressing systems were erected at all the important junctions, smart pole utility, 1.50 lakh LED street lights, 50 environment sensors have been established and activities are being reviewed from the centre, the Commissioner explained to the Governor.

After witnessing the centre’s performance and other services, the Governor complimented the Commissioner. When the Governor asked about the services of the centre, the Commissioner replied that presently some services only being operated daily and all the services would be brought on a daily basis soon.
