Anganwadi staff stage demo for wage hike

Anantapur: Hundreds of Anganwadi workers and helpers have stormed the office of the Woman and Child Welfare department and that of the Project Director in support of the demands and staged a demonstration here on Monday.

The Anganwadi workers were demanding a hike in their wages, scrapping of bio-metric system for the beneficiaries of the Anganwadis and confining the same to only employees. They also demanded the government to treat the Anganwadi teachers as government employees and applying of holiday rules of schools to also Anganwadi centres.
