Anganwadi women stage dharna, arrested
Visakhapatnam: The III town police had arrested Anganwadi women who werestaging dharna in support of their demands in front of ICDCS Project Director office near MVP Colony here on Monday.
According to the sources, women who are working as Attendants (Aayas) and teachers in Anganwadi centres in the district staged dharna in front of ICDCS office by demanding the state government to remove bio metric system, to clear the pending bills and minimum wages of Rs 18,000.
They also demand summer holidays. The III Town police had rushed to the spot with male policemen. When women started giving slogans with their demands,policemen arrested them and shifted some of the women leaders to III town Police station. Later, other women and leaders also reached to the police station.
Speaking on this issue, District President of CITU R Shankar said that the women who are protesting for their demands were moved rudely by male policemen to the police station. He demanded the state government to resolve the problems of the Anganwadi women workers immediately.
