Vijayawada: TDP government should not succumb to the intimidatory tactics of the BJP government, said CPM State Secretary P Madhu on Monday. The Left Party leader made the comment following the visit to the city by Governor E S L Narasimhan on Sunday. He said the BJP government seems to resorting to tactics of intimidation and exerting pressure on the State government.

Addressing the media at the State party office here on Monday, he said that when the people of Andhra Pradesh had been fighting for the Special Category Status (SCS), the Central government instead of granting SCS to the State, deputed the Governor to speak to the Chief Minister on maintaining relations between the BJP and the TDP.  He said the Governor should be a caretaker of the State and savior of the Constitution.

Referring to the 15th Finance Commission, he said the terms of reference mentioned by the Central government in dealing with the States on devolution of funds are detrimental to the interests of the States. He said the revenue of the State dropped since the introduction of GST in the country.

He said the Telugu Desam government had earlier supported the Union government policies like demonetisation and other reforms and now it has been opposing the same Central government due to political differences.

He found fault with the TDP government saying that the government should have clear stand on the economic policies and think of the priorities of the State rather than the party.
