Hindustan Shipyard Limited’s unique capabilities lauded

Visakhapatnam: Secretary (Defence Production) Dr Ajay Kumar along with Financial Adviser (Defence Services) S K Kohli and Joint Secretary (Naval Systems) Vijayendra, inspected Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) on Monday.

Chairman and Managing Director, HSL Rear Admiral L V Sarat Babu briefed him about the unique capabilities and facilities of shipyard including various ship buildings, ship repairs and submarine repair projects.

Ajay Kumar appreciated the significant efforts put in by the management of HSL over the past two years towards improving productivity and to boost the morale, motivation and welfare of employees leading to its remarkable turnaround from a loss-making company to a profit-making one.

While stressing on the need to deliver ships on time, Ajay Kumar emphasised the need to encourage import substitution through indigenisation, export promotion and development of good local vendor base.
