Protest staged for houses

Nellore: CPI activists staged a protest in front of the RDO office here on Monday, demanding clearance of thousands of applications for housing. They slammed the state government for keeping 10 lakh applications received during Janmabhoomi in pending.

The CPI leaders said till now the state government had not announced the list of eligible for housing and the applications piled up in revenue offices.Even though, it requires Rs 6,000 crore for housing, the State government had earmarked only Rs 1,132 crore, they criticized.

They also demanded for house sites for all eligible, pattas to the people, who were enjoying lands, and construction of pucca houses to the poor and appealed to implement recommendations of the Koneru Ranga Rao Committee.
