Murder accused found dead in police station toilet
Visakhapatnam: The body of 60-year-old man, the prime accused in a murder case, was found dead at Atchutapuram police station bathroom here on Wednesday.
According to sources, the deceased was identified as V Ram Naidu (60), a daily wage labourer and resident of Cheemalapalli village in Atchutapuram mandal in Visakhapatnam. The police arrested Ram Naidu on Tuesday as he was identified as the prime accused in the murder at Kondakarla on April 3. The locals and family members alleged that Ram Naidu died due to police harassment during interrogation.
Atchutapuram ASI Simhachalam said that Ram Naidu, who was the prime accused in the murder case was arrested on Tuesday evening at Cheemalapalli village and was remanded in police custody. On Wednesday at 5.15 am, Ram Naidu, who went to toilet, did not return for long time.
Therefore, constable G Harikrishna opened the bathroom door forcibly and found Ram Naidu hanging from the hook in the toilet. Immediately, he informed the incident to the higher officials and the family members of the deceased. Officials and relatives reached the police station and shifted the body to NTR hospital at Anakapalle for autopsy.
