Rasalu turn pricey in Guntur

Guntur: The price of Rasalu (mangoes)  is likely to skyrocket this year compared to the last year. In Guntur city, the super fine variety of Rasalu are being sold at Rs 500 a dozen.

Normally, at the beginning of the season, the price of juicy mangoes is very high. Once the season picks up, the prices are likely to come down.
Chinna rasalu, a variety of juicy mango, is selling at Rs 400 a dozen. Depending upon the quality of fruit, the traders are selling. If the season is picks up, the price of juicy mangoes likely come down to Rs 300 to Rs 350 a dozen, the vendors said.

A mango vendor K Ramaih said, “Normally, in the beginning of the season, we get less quantity of fruits. Once season picks up, we will get more variety of fruits. Price of juicy mangos are expected to come down after 10-15 days.

Due to high prices, the customers are preferring to buy less quantity.” Another vendor Shaik Basha said, “We will get good quality fruit once the season picks up. When the production is increased, the price of fruit will automatically come down. But compared to last year, the price of juicy mangoes is very high this year.

As mango production is less in Guntur district, we are getting it from Vijayawada.” A consumer P Aruna said, “Due to high price, I had purchased half-a-dozen mangoes only. I will buy more fruits once the prices decline.”
