Arrangements for MLC by-poll on May 21

Tirupati: District officials are making arrangements to hold by-election to the AP Legislative Council from the Chittoor Local Authorities Constituency on May 21. The seat fell vacant with the sudden demise of TDP MLC Gali Muddu Krishnama Naidu on February 2.

A total of 1,172 MPTCs and ZPTCs will be exercising their franchise on May 21. Joint Collector and Returning Officer Girisha held a meeting with the representatives of all political parties urging cooperation for smooth conduct of MLC by-poll.

He appointed three auditor teams to assess the election expenditure of the candidates and drafted 14 video surveillance teams. District Cooperative Officer D A Ravi Chandran and Audit Officer ML Manohar will be discharging election accounting monitoring duties on behalf of the Election Commission. The polling booths are being set up at Tirupati, Madanapalle and Chittoor for casting votes.
