Doctor arrested for conducting gender test

Chittoor: In a joint sting operation conducted by medical teams of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, a  gynaecologist, Dr R Shobha working in Siva Prakash Nursing Home here, was taken into custody on Thursday for conducting gender discrimination test as against the rules.

DM&HO Dr Vijaya Gouri said that the national inspection team from Chennai has organised the sting operation by involving a pregnant woman from Tamil Nadu. The team caught Shobha while she was performing the gender discrimination test. The police took gynaecologist and her assistant into 
custody, the DM&HO disclosed.
