Guntur: In a tragic incident, a man and his two sons committed suicide at Koppurao Colony in Mangalagiri town in the district on Friday. According to police, deceased Thiruveedhula Lakshminarayana, a jewellery trader,  administered poison to his two sons, Tejeswar, 14 and Amareswar, 11, in the early hours.

Later, he also consumed it. Lakshminarayana’s father went to the house in the morning but with no one responding, he broke open the doors to find three bodies in the room.

Lakshminarayana’s wife Sirisha died of ill-health in March this year. He is said to have resorted to the extreme step unable to bear the agony caused by the death of his wife.

Sources said Lakshminarayana had sent SMSes to his close relatives stating that he and his two sons were going to meet his wife Sirisha in the other world before committing suicide.

Mangalagiri town sub-inspector of police K Hari Krishna said Lakshminarayana might have committed suicide along with his sons unable to bear the death of his wife Sirisha. “Being jewellery merchant, he might have used cyanide (which is used in making ornaments) to commit sucide.

However, we can confirm only after post mortem,” he said. Lakshminarayana’s relative Mahesh told the media that he had gone into depression since the death of his wife.
