Seven die, 3 hurt as MUV crashes into lorry

Kadapa: In a ghastly road accident, seven people belonging to same family were killed and three others were critically injured when the Toofan vehicle in which they were travelling to Srikalahasti from Gooty in Anantapur district  collided with lorry which is coming in opposite direction at Prakash Nagar Colony near  Model High School in Pullam mandal on Saturday evening.

The deceased were identified as Bhagya Lakshmi, Gayatri, Saraswathi, Kuruvaraju and Goud. The names of two others are not yet known.
The injured persons were shifted to Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) after first aid at Rajampet Area Hospital. The tragic mishap took place at around 5.30 pm on Sunday. 

According to the police, 11 members of a family belonging to Gooty of Anantapur district were going to Srikalahasti for attending a marriage.  
Their vehicle crashed into a lorry coming in the opposite direction in Pullampet mandal.

The driver of the car tried to overtake another vehicle when the mishap occurred. The police said five persons were killed on the spot while two others died while undergoing treatment at RIMS. A case has been registered by Pullampet police.
