Four of a family knocked down by lorry

Guntur: In tragic incident, a couple and their two daughters were killed on the spot when their motor bike was knocked down by a speeding lorry at Marrichettupalem in Rompicherla mandal in Guntur district on Sunday.

According to police, Dontu Anjaneyulu, 35, resident of Cheemalamarri village, was going on a bike, along with his wife Tirupatamma, 30, his daughters Koteswari, 11, Anjali, nine, towards Rompicherla when they reached Marrichettupalem village, the speeding lorry coming hit their bike. As a result, they sustained serious injuries and died on the spot. Bodies were shifted to Narasaraoept government hospital for conducting post-mortem.

Narasaraopet DSP K Nageswara Rao rushed to the spot and enquired about the incident. Speaking to the media, DSP K Nageswara Rao said that Rash driving of the lorry driver led to accident which claimed four lives. Police registered a case and took up investigation. Meanwhile, lorry driver fled the spot after the accident. A pall of gloom descended on Chemalamarri village  with the death of the four members.
