500 packets of ganja seized, 2 held

Vijayawada: Officials of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Vijayawada, arrested two persons and seized ganja weighing 1,085 kgs valued at Rs 1.62 crore from a cargo vehicle on the National Highway near LEPL ICON complex in the city. The Tata Cargo vehicle was carrying Sodium Bi Chromate as per the invoice issued by an establishment situated at Parwada, in Visakhapatnam.

The DRI, in a press release on Monday, said the vehicle was carrying 500 packets of ganja along with Sodium Bi Chromate and was heading towards Vadodara, Gujarat, via Nanded, Maharashtra.

The officials, on specific information, intercepted the cargo vehicle on Sunday on the National Highway in Vijayawada and unearthed that ganja was transported in 500 bags, which was wrapped under the polythene covers. The officials seized the vehicle registered with AP 31 TH 6655 for transportation of ganja.
