ACB court awards 3-year jail to DEO

Vizianagaram: The ACB court in Vizag range has awarded three years imprisonment to district educational officer and imposed a fine of Rs one lakh for amassing wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The ACB had conducted raids in 2005 on S Dharmaraju, the DEO of Srikakulam district and unearthed illicit assets. The ACB arrested him and produced in the court. The prosecution proved that Dharmaraju accumulated assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. Judge G Gnana Suvarnaraju delivered the verdict.
