Cricket-betting gang arrested

Adoni (Kurnool): The cops nabbed three persons on the charge of organising cricket betting and seized an amount of Rs 5.31 lakh and five mobiles from them. All the three accused were produced before the media in the presence of DSP A Prasad at his office in Adoni on Monday.

Addressing the media, the DSP stated on a tip-off the rural Circle Inspector Murali and his staff consisting of Sub Inspector Raj Kumar, Assistant Sub Inspector Ramnath, head constables and constables raided a residence at Pedda Harivanam village under Isvi police station limits and arrested the accused red-handed while conducting cricket betting.

The arrested were identified as K Chinna Ranganna, Gorava Devappa and Kurva Liganna. Five more accused, Ismail, Anji of Adoni, Nalla Reddy, Gardappa of Pedda Harivanam and Peer Basha of Karnataka, who are also connected with the operation are on the run. A hunt was launched to nab the accused, the DSP said, adding the accused would be produced in the court for further action.
