Call to protect rights of workers

Kurnool: International Workers' Day was celebrated on Tuesday with great enthusiasm across the district. Colourful rallies and meetings marked the May Day celebrations by trade unions. 

Activists of the All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) and the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) have hoisted the party flags in more than hundred places across the district. CPM district secretary K Prabhakar Reddy has hoisted the party flag at Sundaraiah Bhavan here. Speaking on the occasion, Prabhakar Reddy said that they are compelling the governments to make amendments to the labour laws.

He called upon the workers to resist the attempts of the governments and the imperial forces in diluting the labour policies. CPI city secretary P Govindu has urged the working class to put up a united fight to protect their hard-earned rights. Later, the Left party leaders and workers in a large number took out a rally from Sundaraiah Bhavan to old bus stand.
