May Day celebrated

Kadapa: Trade unions have celebrated May Day across the district on Tuesday. On the occasion, workers from organised and unorganised sectors conducted bike rallies at several places. Employees, teachers, house construction workers, agriculture labourers under the banner of the All-India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) have organised a massive rally in Vempalle mandal headquarters.

A flag was unfurled at LIC divisional office in Kadapa city. Speaking on the occasion, CPI district secretary G Eswaraiah said that even though the role of workers is most important in generating income to the government but there is no change in the economic status of workers in India as they are being looted by managements in public and private sectors.

He stated workers and employees of unorganised sector are worried about job insecurity as the governments have failed to implement the labour laws. 

The Insurance Corporation Employees Union general secretary A Raghunatha Reddy has said the reforms introduced by the BJP-led NDA government not beneficial to the workers instead they were suppressing their constitutional rights.
