YSRCP leader opposes NTR name for Krishna district

Vijayawada: The close aide of the late YS Rajasekhar Reddy and YSR Congress senior leader Dr Dutta Ramchandra Rao differed with his party President YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s stand to rename the Krishna district as NTR district if YSR Congress comes to power. He asked YS Jagan to withdraw his announcement towards renaming Krishna district. 

He said that he would resign from YSR Congress if the party leadership did not withdraw the assurance. The Krishna district has historical name, he said and added that the river Krishna flows through Krishna district. The Krishna district name is suitable for many ways and the proposal to change the name is not fair.  

Meanwhile, MLC Budda Venkanna said that already the Telugu Desam government has decided to rename the Krishna district as NTR district. But the government has plans to rename NTR district after increasing the number of districts. He said that YS Jagan made false promises to divert the public attention from his failures.
