50 lakh worth red sanders logs seized; 30 held

Tirupati: The cops seized Rs 50 lakh worth 34 red sanders logs in a raid near Pakirvanikunta under Chinthakunta Panchayat in Yerravaripalem mandal on Wednesday. Thirty coolies from Tami Nadu were arrested in the search operation.

Acting on a tip off, Bhakarapeta Rural CI KN Murthy, SI Gopi along with his men raided Pakirvanikunta area leading to the seizure of the red sanders logs and the arrest of the coolies from Tamil Nadu.

The coolies who were found loading the red sanders logs brought from the deep forests in Yerravaripalem mandal in Eicher van were surrounded by the police taking them into custody.
