Gali’s widow files papers

Chittoor: The TDP nominee G Saraswathi, widow of late Gali Muddu Krishnama Naidu, has filed nomination papers for the MLC by-election to Chittoor Local Authorities Constituency here on Thursday.

She handed over four sets of papers to Joint Collector P S Girisha, who is also a Returning Officer, at the Collectorate. She was accompanied by Minister Amaranatha Reddy, MP Dr N Sivaprasad, MLA D A Satyaprabha, ZP Chairperson Girvani, Mayor K Hemalatha and TDP district president P Nani. 

Speaking to The Hans India here on Thursday, Minister N Amaranatha Reddy said that it would be a befitting tribute to the departed leader for electing his wife Saraswathi unanimously. He described the selection of Saraswathi as TDP nominee as the Chief Minister’s commitment towards women empowerment. 

It is significant that all the political parties like YSRCP, Congress, CPI and CPM have reportedly decided to extend their support to the TDP nominee on sympathetic grounds. Only one independent candidate Mastan Reddy has filed nomination papers for MLC by-poll. It is learnt that Mastan Reddy likely to withdraw his nomination in a couple of days.
