3 held for attempt to molest minor girl

Kakinada: The Peddapuram  subdivisional police in East Godavari on Friday arrested three of the four accused for attempting to molest a minor girl at Tammayya Peta under  Kathipudi police station.  The prime accused K Srinivasa Rao is husband of Kathipudi TDP MPTC member Kamchumilli Sandhya .

Though the incident occurred late on Wednesday night, it came to  light on Thursday evening when the 17-yr-old victim lodged a complaint with Kathipudi police .According to sources,  the victim came to her maternal aunt’s place a few days ago for summer vacation. Her aunt runs a tea stall at Tammayya  Peta along NH 16.

The four accused,  Srinivasa Rao, Ravi , Satyanarayana and Sravan, came to the tea stall and demanded tea. But the victim’s aunt informed them that they had already closed the stall. Said to be under the influence of alcohol, the four entered into an argument with the woman and later dragged the girl who was there to the nearby vacant place and tried to molest her. When  the victim  and  her aunt raised an alarm, some villagers rushed to the place and rescued the girl.

On receiving the complaint,  the Kathipudi police  registered a case and started the manhunt.  While three of the accused were arrested late on Friday,  the fourth accused Sravan  is at large.. Tondangi  CI G Chenna Kesava Rao said on  Friday evening  that they would produce the accused before the concerned  court magistrate late  in the night. “We are hoping to arrest the fourth accused Sravan at the earliest,” the CI said
