APCCIF chief all praise for Antwerp Port

Visakhapatnam: With a wide variety of strengths, Port of Antwerp, which is Europe’s most central seaport, playing a major role for centuries as a port in the world and will continue to do so in the coming years, said G Sambasiva Rao, President, AP Chambers of Commerce and Industry Federation (APCCIF) in an interactive meet with Port of Antwerp Authorities on Saturday.

The businessmen in the logistics sector must visit the Antwerp Port to gain knowledge how to improve efficiency by using latest technology and equipment to upgrade Indian ports to their standards because of their excellent infrastructure making the transport easier, more sustainable and cheaper.

Raj Khalid, India representative of Port of Antwerp,  said that Antwerp being made of three pillars cargo handling, value added logistics and industry with a  strong maritime connections of the port to 1,300 global ports and their strong hinterland connections to the rest of Europe through road, rail, barge and pipeline network. Antwerp also boasts of the largest petrochemical cluster in Europe with the global 30 players having production and distribution facilities, he added.

Antwerp is not only a key port for attracting new European markets for India but also for its excellent deep-sea connections with West Africa and Latin America. The latter two regions are also important growth markets for India, said Malini Dutt.
