Chittoor: Zilla Parishad (ZP) Chairperson Girvani said the BJP will face humiliating defeat in Karnataka elections for not conceding to the demand of Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh. Speaking to The Hans India, Girvani said that the BJP will suffer defeat in southern states if the Prime Minister fails to grant special status to AP.

To a question, the ZP chief stated that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is committed to women empowerment as he introduced several welfare schemes for them. “Chandrababu has offered nominated posts for women,” She remarked. She gave an example of D A Satyaprabha becoming Chittoor MLA, K Hemalatha as Mayor and herself ZP Chairperson.

She exuded confidence of Gali Muddu Krishnama Naidu’s widow Saraswathi would be elected as MLC unanimously in by-election to the Chittoor Local Authorities Constituency. Only independent candidate Mastan Reddy, who is in poll fray, likely to withdraw from contest very soon, she hoped, stressing on the need for more women representation in the development of the district.

The ZP chief praised District Collector P S Pradyumna for securing top spot to district in the implementation of several state and centrally sponsored schemes. TDP senior leader Chandra Prakash and others were present.
