Vijayawada: CPI state secretary K Ramakrishna said the Pratyeka Hoda Sadhana Samiti and Left parties would conduct a round-table meeting on the Special Category Status (SCS) for AP in Vijayawada city on May 8.

CPI state secretary K Ramakrishna says the ruling TDP and the YSRCP should fight unitedly against the Centre instead of levelling charges and counter-charges against each other

Speaking to media persons here on Saturday, Ramakrishna said the Telugu Desam Party and YSR Congress Party should fight unitedly against the Centre instead of levelling charges and counter-charges against each other. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was not protecting the interests of the state after observing the disunity among political parties in the state.

The CPI leader said that people started to look at YSRCP with suspicion as the party and its leaders were maintaining a stoic silence towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah.

He said BJP floor leaders were talking as the spokesperson of YSRCP igniting suspicion in the political circuits. Ramakrishna said the one-upmanship between the TDP and YSRCP would do more harm to the state and would strengthen the Central government.

"Both the parties supported the BJP-led NDA government during the elections for the posts of President and Vice-President but they did not bring any pressure on the Centre for SCS. Why they were silent on the SCS when NDA sought their support for the two elections,” he questioned.
