Woman’s body found

Visakhapatnam: An unidentified body of a woman was found between Kothapalam and Narava areas under Pendurthy Police Station limits in the city on Friday. Police are suspecting that she might have been murdered elsewhere and her body was set ablaze at Narava area. 

Sources said that some persons, who were jogging, found the body in a vacant layout around 4.40 am on Friday and alerted the locals and police.  
DCP (South Zone) T Ravi Kumar Murthy said that investigation is going on to establish the identity of the victim and to nab the accused. 

Sources said that police collected CCTV footage from a school and the footage shows that a car was stopped near the spot at 2.15 am and flames at 2.48 am. The culprits poured petrol on the woman’s body and set it on fire and fled the spot. 

Inspector of Pendurthy Police Station P Suryanarayana Murthy said that they shifted the half-burnt body to KGH in the city for post-mortem and to ascertain whether she was sexually assaulted before she was murdered. 

The culprits burnt the body to hide the identity of the victim and they have to wait for a couple of days to establish the identity of the deceased, he added.
