Cops discuss women’s issues with Mahila Mitras
Vijayawada: City police officials conducted meetings with the MahilaMitras in all police stations of the city and discussed the activities of MahilaMitras and problems being faced by women in society.
Some women could not directly go to the police station to seek help due to personal problems and other reasons. MahilaMitras will help these women or girls to get assistance from the police and act as mediators between the police department and common people particularly women.
Commissioner of Police D GowtamSawang has appointed five MahilaMitras for each police station. Women representing civil society organisations, women associations, employees, house wives, lawyers have been appointed as MahilaMitras. Two women constables were allocated for each police station exclusively to deal with the womens’ problem.
Keeping in view of the increasing attacks on women, the city police decided to strengthen the MahilaMitras and convened a meeting in all the police stations in the city on Sunday. DCP Law and Order GajaraoBhupal, In-Charge DCP, Law and Order Nawab Jaan, ACPs, Circle Inspectors convened meetings and discussed the activities of MahilaMitras. ACP West G Rama Krishna held discussions with the MahilaMitra members at Two Town Police Station.
