Police targeting Opposition leaders, alleges YSRCP
Nellore: YSR Congress leaders blamed the district police for registering cases against their party leaders citing example of Nellore rural legislator Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy against whom a case was registered for alleged involvement in cricket betting.
MP M Rajamohan Reddy, party district convener K Govardhan Reddy and others, interacting with the media on Sunday at the party office, said that attitude of the police officials was not appropriate and they were targeting leaders from the Opposition.
Even though cockfights were banned in the state, several ruling party leaders were involved in the activity and no case was registered against them, they pointed out.
The YSR Congress leaders blamed the police stating that though there was no involvement of rural MLA K Sridhar Reddy in the betting case, he was being targeted.
They said governments are not permanent and it is not appropriate to act according to the directions of the politicos and warned that they would fight against such attitude collectively.
