Rallies across state today

Vijayawada: Rallies and meetings will be organised across the State on Monday as part of the campaign ‘Aadapillaku Rakshaga Kaduludam’ launched by the State government to give moral strength to the women and children, who had been facing sexual abuse not only in the state but also across the country. 

Incidents of rape, molestation, sexual abuse, harassment are being reported regularly across the country. Keeping in view the rise in such incidents, the State government has decided to extend full support to women and boost their confidence in the State by conducting rallies in all district headquarters and mandal centres.  Revenue and police officials were asked to play a key role in organising the rallies and meetings.  

In Vijayawada city, rallies will be taken out from four places to Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium where Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will address the huge gathering of nearly 15,000 people. Rallies will begin at 4 pm from Tummalapalli Kalakshetram, CM camp office, Collector’s camp office and Siddhartha Arts College.

All rallies will reach the IGMC stadium, said District Collector B Lakshmikantham on Sunday. The Chief Minister will flag off rally at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram at 4 pm on Monday. Women and Child welfare department, education department, police, labour, revenue, Panchayat Raj, municipal and other departments are taking part in the massive rally which will be organised to create awareness on Pocso Act, Criminal law amendment Act and crime against women and children.

The State government has taken serious note of the rape incident in Dachepalli of Guntur district recently and decided to conduct massive rallies and meetings to educate people on the rights of the women and to ensure safety of women and children in the state.
