Jagan promises MLC posts to different communities
Vijayawada: YSR Congress president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy demanded that the government should pay compensation to farmers who lost their crops due to the recent rains.
On the 154th day of his Praja Sankalpa Yatra at Konkepudi village in Pedana constituency of Krishna district on Sunday, Jagan said that the Centre should release funds immediately to save the farmers.
He said that the farmers lost their crops due to the untimely rains. The State government was not paying compensation and not implementing crop insurance scheme properly, he said.
The Opposition leader said that he would give MLC posts to people of various communities especially to those who do not have representation in the Assembly. Equality is his main agenda, he said and added that late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy extended help to all the communities in the society.
He said that he would provide monthly pension of Rs 10,000 for each fisherman family during the period of fishing holiday. The leaders of fishermen community met the Opposition leader and brought their problems to his notice. They requested him to extend help for their welfare. Jagan responded positively to their request.
The YSRCP president criticised the TDP government for neglecting the backward classes. He said the present government did not implement even a single scheme for the welfare of backward classes. The government was cheating the backward classes with false statements, he added.
Similarly the workers of Kalamkari industry met YS Jagan and explained their problems. They said that they were not getting minimum wages even when they were working for the whole day.
The people of several villages in Pedana constituency said that they were facing challenges due to lack of drinking water. YSR Congress leaders Perni Vekatramaiah (Nani), Kodali Venkateswara Rao (Nani) and several leaders were present.
