38 lucky passengers escaped major mishap near Singarayakonda in Andhra
Singarayakonda: The passengers on board a bus from Bengaluru to Vijayawada escaped a major accident near Singarayakonda today morning. The bus they were travelling in was hit by a speeding transport lorry from behind, injuring one person who was shifted to Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences in Ongole immediately.
The non AC pushback seated bus belongs to Sri Venkataramana Travels of registration number AP16TH0888 started at Bengaluru around 09.00 PM on Monday night with 38 passengers and is expected to reach Vijayawada by 08.00 AM on Tuesday morning. The bus is almost on schedule and is about to reach destination in just 3 hours of journey. At around 5.00 AM, the driver slowed down the bus to allow few passengers get down at Sanampudi flyover, but a speeding transport lorry of registration number AP07TH7677 hit the vehicle from behind.
The passengers, who were in sleep woke up with a sudden jolt and found that one of them has broken one leg. The Singarayakonda police SI Nagamalleswara Rao reached the spot and shifted the injured passenger to RIMS Ongole and found that the lorry driver fled from the scene immediately after the accident.
The passengers were arranged alternate transport to their destinations on their expenditure while the police started investigating the case.
