Committed to ryots’ welfare: Pulla Rao

Guntur: Minister for Civil Supplies Prathipati Pulla Rao said that the government is committed for the welfare of farmers. He inaugurated the Anna Canteen at Guntur Mirchi Yard and unveiled the statue of late Chief Minister N T Rama Rao in the Guntur Mirchi Yard on Monday. 

Addressing the farmers, Pulla Rao said that the TDP government waived crop loans Rs 24,000 crore. He said that the aim of the Anna Canteen is provide food meals and tiffin at cheaper price to the common man and this canteen is useful to the farmers and hamalis in the Mirchi Yard.

He reminded that late NT Rama Rao had introduced Rs 2 a kg rice scheme for the welfare of poor and with the same concept Chandrababu Naidu started Anna Canteens. 

He urged the farmers to avail the facility provided by the government. He demanded the Centre to fulfil the assurances mentioned in the AP Reorganisation Act and extend helping hand to the state.  Minister for Social Welfare Nakka Ananda Babu said that the aim of the Anna Canteen is to provide food at nominal rates. He said that the Mirchi Yard is implementing the welfare schemes for farmers.  

He reminded that the government gave Rs 1,500 per quintal bonus to the chilli farmers during the last years. MLA Modugula Venugopala Reddy, Guntur Mirchi Yard chairman Mannava Subba Rao were among those who have participated in the meeting.
