Death of 2 babies creates commotion at Old Government General Hospital
Vijayawada: Death of two babies created commotion in the Old Government General Hospital in the city on Tuesday. The doctors said that the babies were born underweight and died of illness while parents alleged that the babies died due to negligence of doctors.
V Sivalakshmi of Gampallagudem mandal delivered a baby boy in a private hospital 15 days ago. The newborn was brought to GGH on May 7 in a critical condition. The GGH doctors diagnosed that the newborn was suffering from septicemia. The doctors tried to save the baby with the best possible treatment available but the newborn breathed his last on Tuesday evening.
After the death of the baby, the parents and relatives blamed the doctors for death. But the doctors denied the allegations. In another case, P Durga Bhavani from Ajit Singh Nagar, Vijayawada, delivered a baby girl on May 7 at the Old GGH. The newborn was pre-matured with under-weight and was suffering from meconium aspiration syndrome.
There was no moment in the baby since birth and the doctors had tried their best to save the baby suffering from the meconium aspiration syndrome but in vain. The doctors declared that the baby died on Thursday evening. The parents and relatives of the baby girl staged a protest in front of the hospital and later the police convinced them and sent away.
