Vijayawada: The leaders of APNGOs staged protest here on Wednesday demanding that the Centre accord Special Category Status (SCS) for Andhra Pradesh. AP NGOs Association president P Ashok Babu asked the political parties to launch a united fight against the Centre on SCS.

The AP NGOs would leave no stone unturned in this effort, he said and added that the NGOs would announce an action plan in this regard. He recalled that the ruling and opposition parties waged a united fight against the state bifurcation in the past.

He also said that he didn't campaign against the BJP in Karnataka. He wondered as to how the BJP and leaders of other political parties were opposing his Karnataka tour.

He said that the leaders of Telugu associations in Karnataka wanted to get clarity on fund release and other allocations by the Centre. He asked the BJP leaders as to how they came to their association office and asked  support for the BJP in the past.

He recalled that the APNGOs Association gave a call to vote against the Congress during the elections in the past.  He said that he is ready to quit his job if it is necessary for agitating demanding special status.
