Ruia doctors perform total hip replacement surgery

Tirupati: A patient suffering from pain in left hip for several years due to ‘Avascular Necrosis of Head of the left Femur’ was operated successfully and total hip replacement was done by a team of doctors in Ruia Hospital here.

T Jayarami Reddy, a 65-year-old male patient from Ramasamudram mandal in Chittoor district approached doctors with the problem due to which he was suffering from chronic kidney disease with anaemia and urinary tract infection.

The Head of the department of Orthopaedics Dr S Srinivasa Reddy has said that, he was treated for infection. Due renal care was taken by physician and nephrologist. Multiple blood transfusions were given for anaemia. As it was decided to operate on him, after anaesthetic evaluation he was taken for surgery and uncemented total hip replacement was done under the care of Dr Srinivasa Reddy.

A team that consists of Dr P Ravi Shankar, Dr R Venkat, Dr DL Venkatesh performed the surgery on April 24. Anaesthetic team−Dr Jamuna, Dr Radha, and Dr Padma also monitored the patient. Extreme care was taken even after post-surgery for renal problem and finally the patient recovered well. The patient was able to walk weight bearing and felt happy.
