Vizag Diesel Loco Shed gets 5-S certification

Visakhapatnam: Diesel Loco Shed, Visakhapatnam, achieved another milestone by getting 5-S certification on Work Place Management System in addition to ISO 9001:2015 for Quality Management System, ISO 14001:2015 for Environmental Management System and OHSAS 18001:2007 for Occupational Health and Safety Management System and ISO 50001:2011 for Energy Management System.

The Executive Director of Mechanical Engineering and Traction, Railway Board, Anupam Sharma, received the certificate on behalf of Diesel Loco Shed, Visakhapatnam, in the presence of Senior Divisional  Mechanical Engineer of Visakhapatnam SK Patro.

Diesel Loco Shed of Visakhapatnam is the largest loco holding diesel shed among the diesel sheds of Indian Railways with present day holding of 311 locomotives, including three rail buses. 

The specialty of the shed is not only the size of its holding of locomotives but also the variety of locomotives it had been maintaining and for conducting trials of new technology by RDSO. 

These certifications will further boost the status of shed in the Indian Railways, which is another great achievement, Anupam Sharma said on the occasion.

Diesel Loco Shed of Visakhapatnam with its outstanding performance in the availability of locos has made East Coast Railway (ECoR) the best among all zonal railways.
