Edible oil unit raided for counterfeit
Eluru: The vigilance and enforcement officials raided agro oil industries at Tetali village in Tanuku mandal on Wednesday and seized 7,300 kgs of edible oil worth Rs 29.82 lakh worth that were packed in the tins of several brands.
According to the vigilance officials, Satti Srinivasa Reddy, owner of Ganesh Agro Oil Industries at Tetali, filling up the groundnut oil, sunflower oil that was produced in his industry in several tins pasting the stickers of various brands, including famous brands.
On receiving information, the vigilance officials team led by vigilance CI GV Nageswara Rao, AO M Srinivasa Rao, town SI Sitaram raided the industry and found the oil packets.
They checked the brands in which the groundnut and sunflower oils filled up. The officials taken the samples of the oil that was filled in the tins and sent to the laboratory. The CI said that after receiving the report from the lab, action would be initiated against owner Srinivasa Reddy.
However, there was confusion among the officials that whether the oil mill owner filling up the oil in the branded name tins that were manufactured in his industry or he is procuring the oil from outside. A case was registered in this regard.
