Competition in skills would bring best out of youth

Vijayawada: Minister for Skill development, Youth and Sports Kollu Ravindra inaugurated a two-day ‘Naipunya 2018’ here on Thursday. The competition was organised jointly by the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

Addressing a gathering, Kollu Ravindra expressed happiness that APSSDC was organising the state-level skills competition. The minister said that there are more than 50 per cent youth in the state and with proper training they will excel and become a part in the development of the state.

He recalled that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had launched APSSDC four years ago and aimed at creating skilled youth. He said that the state would transform into a knowledge hub with the initiative of such skill development programmes.

APSSDC MD and CEO Koganti Sambasiva Rao said that the vision of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu is to make Andhra Pradesh a knowledge hub. To fulfil his vision, they are offering various skill training programmes to the unemployed youth.

He said that they would train one lakh students and promised to provide 70,000 jobs this year. Special Chief Secretary JSV Prasad, APSSDC Special Secretary Dr Ganta Subba Rao, CII AP Chairman and Director RVS Rudra Raju, NSDC ED and CEO Jayant Krishna, and CII Skills and IR Director Sougata Roy Chowdary and others were present.
