Place Special Investigation Team report in public domain: CPM

Visakhapatnam: The CPM Visakhapantam Committee cried foul over the delay in placing the Special Investigation Team (SIT) report on land irregularities in and around Visakhapatnam in the public domain.

The SIT has already submitted its report over the land encroachments and irregularities five months ago, however, the government is yet to open the report. The CPM demanded that the government present the report before the people immediately.

After receiving a large number of allegations on the land irregularities from the people, political parties and party leaders, the TDP government appointed SIT headed by senior IPS officer Vineet Brijlal.

The committee after probing into the allegations had submitted the report to Visakhapatnam Police Commissioner T Yoganand. The SIT had received 2,875 complaints from aggrieved citizens, representatives of people’s organisations and political leaders irrespective of party lines pertaining to land irregularities. 

After verifying the nature of complaints, the probe team took up investigation into 333 complaints that came under its ambit and another 19 complaints received from political leaders. The team also probed the 65 No Objection Certificates which were issued in the name of ex-servicemen and freedom fighters more than one- and-a-half decades ago. 

Addressing the media on Thursday, State Executive Member of CPM Ch Narsinga Rao and Party City Committee Secretary B Ganga Rao lamented the government for delay in placing the SIT report before the people.
