Best Tourism Award conferred on AP Tourism
Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Authority was conferred the Country’s Best Judged State Tourism Award at Travel and Tourism India Expo held at the World Trade Centre, Mumbai, from May 11-13.
The trophy and citation were presented by Joseph Dias, Chairman of Trinity Group to AP Tourism Authority CEO Himanshu Shukla at the awards ceremony on the last day. Earlier, Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Suresh Prabhu inaugurated the multiple events at the show.
The criteria and parameters for selection of the award were the multiple tourism products and special mention was made of the following places of tourist interest, which saw AP reach the top.
The awards were presented based on places of tourist interest, Tirupati, Sri Venkateshwara Swamy Temple handling 30 million visitors annually, Anantapur, Rajiv Gandhi National Park (Srisailam) India’s largest tiger reserve, Vijayawada, ancient capital of Satavahana Empire and Amaravati, where Buddha gave his famous Kalachakra sermon, Visakhapatnam,Kursura Museum, the only submarine museum in South East Asia and Rajamahendravaram, waterfalls and natural beauty, including Papikondalu the largest Godavari river in South India.
